It is right on the border to Mexico, just south of Tucson (you drive right past the San Xavier Mission) and it is such a fun day trip.

12) Reid Park Zoo -The Reid Park Zoo, founded in 1967, is a 17-acre city-owned and operated non-profit zoo in Tucson, Arizona. The zoo features more than 500 animals. It was unofficially established in 1965 by Gene Reid, the parks and recreation director at the time. . Elephant exhibit was particularly impressive. Shelby had a wonderful time feeding the giraffe at their feeding station too.

13) Tucson botanical gardens - Tucson Botanical Gardens is a collection of 16 residentially scaled gardens, and described as a "Very serene, relaxing experience. Took a few hours in the morning to stroll through and enjoy the experience. Would highly recommend, especially for those cactus lovers; they have quite the xeriscaping exhibit!"
